Conceived by Grace Prince during a residency in Mallorca, Untitled 2 (vase) is a unique sculptural object shaped by hand from black chamotte clay. Born from raw gestures, earth, and plant matter, the work retains the imprint of its making — its asymmetry, surface tensions, and restraint.
Partially glazed, the interior is sealed with a thin layer of brown glaze, while the outer body remains mostly raw, interrupted by a single gesture of gloss. Organic fibres, now disappeared, leave behind silent traces. Accompanying the ceramic piece is a photograph taken before firing. The image remains as a residue of process.
The edition comprises a partially glazed black chamotte ceramic object and a photograph printed on 260 gsm vellum card paper. Handcrafted components may present subtle variations in tone, texture, and material, inherent to the artisanal process.
